Vaping is an alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes. Vaping exists to give smokers another option, when smoking can no longer be one.
Vaping works by heating a coil to vaporize liquid solution containing Nicotine (derived from tobacco), Vegetable Glycerin, Propylene Glycol and often artificial flavorings, creating a vapor to which one would inhale similar to a cigarette. This new technology utilizing vaporization to receive nicotine is quite different from the traditional method of combusting tobacco when smoking cigarettes.
Vaping has been an idea for almost 100 years and started gaining minimal traction over the last 50 years, but because smoking was still very fashionable and not overly known to be a health risk, the idea was never able to take off - throughout several attempts by many individuals looking for an alternative to combustible tobacco.
As time went on, the health risks of smoking became more and more apparent, and within the last 20 years, vaping went from an idea to a reality. In 2003, Hon Lik, a Chinese pharmacist, invented and kicked off the big start for the modern e-cigarette. As ideas expanded over time, Vaping went through many "generations" and has evolved considerably. It has become very popular over the last 10 years and has gone from underground to mainstream and is available for anyone looking for an alternative to smoking cigarettes.
The basics of Vaping are really quite basic, it's the endless amount of choices - What type, What colour, What style, What flavour, How much Nicotine? - that can be intimidating to some.
All "Vapes" use a coil to heat an E-Liquid that is often contained in a tank, which is powered by a battery and controlled by a device - these are the basic pieces of the "Vape". Sometimes all of these pieces are separate, sometimes the device will have a battery built in, and some tanks or pods have the coil built in as well. Some don't even come apart, cannot be filled or even charged.
Vaping used to be a lot more simple with the limited choices, but now with more choices comes greater control over how to make Vaping work for anyone. This series of Blogs will hopefully help anyone looking to make the switch to Vaping.
